1965 Mustang Show Quality Convertible with a really just a spectacular new build…this rare wonderful restored classic Mustang convertible is presented by Fraser Dante as a top, top Driven Show car to just exceptional quality prepared for the demanding collector who wants both cosmetics plus superior mechanicals…now just finished in the really terrific and just gorgeous Rangoon Red (J code) (LINK), with the Ford 1965 color chart with all the colors (LINK), really an amazing luster and the very straight all steel original Ford body, the exceptional body panels are believed ‘as factory’, the fit is just outstanding, (LINK), just beautiful chrome trim and bumpers, has the striking all new White factory standard bucket seated interior, white correct steering wheel, newer white console, red Ford safety belts, new white top boot, a properly dated 289cid production engine is just fully rebuilt as ‘brand new’ from a long time expert, set forth to ‘A’ code specs, all numbers on the engine and heads show them to be believed factory original, from the full machine shop upwards the engine is professionally prepared in the build, a very rare standard bore block, engine casting of C5AE-6015-E, also for more modern and better performance, this has the new expensive set up with the Edelbrock AVS2 4v 500 cfm electric choke carb and a Performer aluminum intake system that adds performance and reliability demanded by most knowledgeable collector!!! this is painted proper Ford engine black then hand assembled by a very experienced Mustang builder, has the new MCA Cobra kit with chrome valve covers, the hi-po orange air cleaner is installed in the new Cobra intake system, the rebuilt C-4 automatic transmission works great, correct shifter, has an aluminum dual ‘A’ code dual exhaust system with mellow mufflers, Fraser Dante has even restored the driveshaft that is prepared with our top sub, balanced with “U’ joints and the slip yoke,
also to drive to top standards, this has the brand new expensive Borgeson variable ratio power steering system just installed, the expensive full new GT power disc brake system just completely professionally built and installed, just really a fantastic steel body and sensational red oxide prepared underchassis, extremely top restoration with terrific just tested new mechanicals and really great ‘eyes’, the glass is so good that the windshield is a replacement tinted unit with the ‘Carlite’ stampings…great attention to exacting details, really has a just awesome and spectacular Rangoon Red paint and a straight body that is highly polished and completely updated mechanicals and extras for driven show prepared for Spring 2021, the detailed inner floors and highly presented original solid underchassis are so hard to find like this…just painted in proper red oxide, also this has the new expensive and really extremely hard to get brand new 1965 show 15×7 styled steel wheels, red center caps and lug nuts, mounted are the 205/60/R15 brand new B.F. Note on build costings starting in 2020/2021: in the difficult world today, as a builder and restorer of classic Mustangs, the parts chain supply stream is either cut off or very limited supply, hard to get some restoration parts, when we get our needed restoration parts, our costings are very much higher than even in 2019, the value of the build costing of these quality Mustangs is climbing higher for sure, also, having been in business for many years, Fraser Dante has a large stock of needed parts for these cars that cover most of our needs, we run a professional shop with full time staff along with expert subs that have worked with us for years, in short, the values are climbing,
Brakes: a very strong point on this great restored 1965 Mustang convertible is the brand new fresh GT disc braking system, just installed by Fraser Dante is the very desired and the expensive full kit with dual line power master cylinder GT with front vented disc brakes (SEE LINK), this uprated installation is just excellent and these brakes are really terrific, includes many professional hours to install and test, (LINK), all new lines, 8″ rear axle (LINK), the professional staff at Fraser Dante just put in the whole expensive new system that also includes the rear drum brakes have also been fully rebuilt with shoes and hardware, REALLY GREAT BRAKES!!!
Power steering upgrade: here is an area that most of the Fraser Dante customers just love…our great Mustang upgrade we use the excellent full Borgeson variable ratio power steering complete system that makes this so easy to drive, this has the Saginaw style smaller and efficient pump, has new hard to get grooved pulleys, all the lines and hoses are provided, it is far better and very desired way more than the original Ford constant power steering that often leaks, here are the specs of parts alone that are shown, (LINK), this also takes many professional hours to install and test, our normal fair Fraser Dante customer install price is a $2890 costing for this upgrade,
Underchassis and floors: here is a really very, very fine example of a quality Mustang…an area of this very superior 1965 Mustang convertible, just completed and documented with photos are the very original and very solid, just terrific full red oxide painted underchassis, the floors are in really top shape and appear to be ‘as factory’, very hard to find such top quality today (SEE PHOTO LINK), also this has great factory lower valence ‘pinch’ welds that show the originality and top quality…there are many hours spent to bring up said great chassis to top driven show standards!
Engine specs: a great proper 289cid rebuilt engine by a top builder and a Mustang expert known to this writer for 20 years, from the full machine shop full prep from the vatting to the line boring, this engine had such little use that the cylinders stayed to factory specs with standard pistons, new rings, the crank was turned to also stock factory specs, the engine has the correct casting and date codes (LINK), the heads were reworked, then onto the professional build at the builder who Fraser Dante works with all the time, this has new expensive setup with the Edelbrock 500 cfm 4v AVS2 carburetor with an electric choke, new Performer Edelbrock aluminum intake just installed and then painted proper blue for show presentation, excellent ignition with the Pertronix upgrade, all new spark plug wires. has the MCA Cobra chrome valve covers and the proper air cleaner with the hi-po orange air filter, the full upgraded expensive new strong DuraLast Gold battery with 750 cold cranking amps for great starting, has the new proper cables (LINK), the engine bay is detailed to MCA driven show presentation, the full tune completed is with new show Ford C5OZ spark plug wires, new Autolite copper core ‘45’ spark plugs (SEE LINK), the timing and valves are professionally set,
oil/fluids: the fluids are fresh, the radiator flushed with fresh coolant to -20o, racing oil/filter: Special Valvoline high performance VR1 20-50 high zinc oil is added along with new filter for engine protection (LINK), note this step is the top racing quality oil that can only engines without a catalytic converter, this was done and driven, then checked in our shop and the oil and dipstick are crystal clear,
Trunk and spare: here is just completed is the full trunk show detailing with the most solid floors, one can see the new painted floors around the new fuel tank, the left side board is properly in place, then the new show plaid trunk mat is added, then finally a spare tire and jack…ready to show and drive!
