1974 Triumph TR6 is presented for a collector/driver who wants a fresh top notch quality restoration and excellent mechanicals that are documented…here in this extensive report that shows a very pretty new British White with a beautiful bare metal fresh PPG paint, great body and arrow straight metal, brand new fresh wet sanding and buffing just completed, luggage rack, dual sport mirrors, the fresh correct 6 cylinder 2.5 liter engine, strong compression, dual #175 Strombergs just professionally rebuilt, then the Fraser Dante in house British senior mechanic just set and synchronized these carbs, factory intake, all #s are listed, Pertronix ignition, has the nice show engine bay with proper green show hoses and clamps installed, very top notch mechanicals, uprated front air intake cooling system, dual stainless/aluminized performance exhaust system, terrific handling with the new rack and pinion steering sector, great suspension set up, the car works so very well with the proper 4-speed transmission and working overdrive, this performs superbly with very strong and smooth power, terrific black full interior, nice correct black buckets with headrests, all gauges working as set in the extremely nice wood dash, Mono Lita uprated steering wheel, black softtop, proper here are the rebuilt front disc brake system as well as the brand new rear drums being just rebuilt, is a terrific restoration with great ‘eyes’, drives superbly with very strong and smooth power with the road testing completed with the professional work completed by Fraser Dante, presents with the very nice rust free black underchassis, (LINK) a very proper original vehicle with great Atlanta area history for many years with a file of receipts, has the full stock restored wheels with the proper trim rings, center caps, lug nuts, brand new expensive 205/70/R15 radials are just installed and balanced, optional alloy Minilites available, has the full black solid trunk show restoration with spare wheel and tire, a striking appearance with the beautiful re-chromed bumpers, all working lights, newly chromed bumpers for the desired very clean look, the 4 federal period mandated bumper extensions are removed and will go with the car, the headlights are sealed beam units, all of the lighting is checked including brake lights for safety and the backup lights working, has the lower front performance spoiler for excellent cooling, has a just terrific very solid frame and underchassis that is just freshly show painted black, just a very striking appearance, very solid frame just painted black and very nice floors also painted black, here is a real opportunity for someone who demands quality along with top mechanicals, also, at Fraser Dante Ltd one gets to talk to the people who have done the hands-on work, see lots of the preparation photos that are posted, a real advantage! 

engine: here terrific effort accomplished to make this proper famous engine and carbs work to top standards by Fraser Dante, see the VIDEO of the car running (LINK), after finding from a collection of a very serious mechanically trained man, he had done the 1974 TR6 and drove very little, this famous sports car has great and smooth performance with a car dry weight of 2438 lbs with the strong 2.5 litre engine (SEE THE LINK OF SPECS), it works very well and fun in today’s ‘real world’, with the factory 101 rated horsepower or more and with very strong torque, has just excellent compression with a dry cold reading just taken of 130-138 psi across (LINK), see the list of all the available very specific ‘numbers’ that are just taken by Fraser Dante to confirm authenticity (LINK), has fresh full new throttle bushings and new linkage connected with new fuel lines to the just rebuilt dual Stromberg Carburetors, numbered 175 CD-2 on both, they are mounted on the Stanpart Aluminum intake manifold proper #V3265, this carb setup is very valuable as they are not available in the reproduction today, these carbs were initially sent to a top rebuilder during the initial North Georgia restoration, then now the Fraser Dante senior British tech has now tuned this for current running condition with photos showing the work being completed, the rockers and the valves are just adjusted and set on the very clean head by our top British tech (AGAIN THE ABOVE LINK SHOWS #S), note that this has the added show TR6 finned alloy valve cover that is installed with the new FelPro HD gasket set (LINK), has the uprated exhaust system is the dual split pipes that are polished stainless in the mid-section and aluminized in the front and to the rear exit, show presented and more power, now ready for Summer 2020,

ignition: the new Pertronix uprated ignition works just great, has brand new expensive NGK ‘Cooper Plus’ spark plugs that are $72 installed along with the brand new Cobalt Blue Streak 8mm performance spark plug wires that are $50 installed (SEE LINK), if one desires, Fraser Dante could go to a black 7mm spark plug wire that is more stock if someone desires the change, this fresh spark work makes this TR6 perform great as was tested with the working overdrive, also this has an expensive just brand new DuraLast Gold 700CCA heavy duty battery now installed, has really great starting power, also this battery will come with the 36 month warrantee receipt go with it,

In order for this very proper engine bay to present well for top Driven Show presentation and also be fresh for great cooling, the new set of show green very correct factory hoses with the proper clamps are just installed, in this process the coolant is just flushed and replaced, then we checked the engine timing and that is set to factory specs, noted that when the values were just adjusted, strong performance, thusly just right for such an engine with the build standards described when Fraser Dante acquired this TR6, there is a nice file of receipts that come with this TR6, (LINK),

Cooling: in the recent build process, great effort is taken with the air induction cooling system, in order for better air flow to the carburetors, the stock air cleaner cover has been modified with additional holes for better air induction to the carburetors, the air cleaner element is a low restriction/hi-performance air filter, this installing will yield this to be a driven show car in the ‘real world’, see that the radiator was fully rebuilt and now has the fresh coolant, all the show hoses and clamps, see that this has the great new proper fiberboard composite front air intake system that funnels cooling air into the radiator, the this has an uprate 13” electric fan and an added rear fan shroud (SEE THE CLOSE UP PHOTO LINK)…a top quality install for cooling to the great show driving,

The Fraser Dante professional shop is doing the final road check and is tested as a very ‘spirited’ driver, ready for Summer 2020, the electrics work great, then we also checked the level of the transmission fluid, then we checked the rear end dope,

racing oil/filter: Special Valvoline high performance VR1 20-50 high zinc oil is added along with new filter for engine protection, (LINK) note this step is the top racing quality oil that can only engines without a catalytic converter, at this has excellent electricals with a strong 12-volt battery installed,  has excellent cables and connections, 

Brakes:  here is where Fraser Dante stands tall in the classic car preparation work, thusly upon receipt in the Fraser Dante restoration shop, the braking system needed some work as it had been sitting, not this is fully checked and then redone again, again only came from not being used very much with some leaking in the rear brake cylinders, the front factory discs are rebuilt with fresh pads like just new, note the photos of condition (LINK), excellent pads and hardware, the rears are also checked and fully rebuilt for safety and performance (SEE LINK), has all four new wheel cylinders, the brake lines are fresh, many file receipts follow this work, see the new photos of the brakes just being set up in the Fraser Dante shop  (LINK), with the famous front discs and rear drums, they stop this TR6 so very well in the new spirited driving road testing, great effort with the brakes, 

tires/wheels: the stock wheels have been restored correctly, has the nice show quality correct trim rings, center caps and lug nuts are part of the package, since this had only been used for shows for a while, as normal today with classic cars, the tires had nice treads but were 9 years old, note that a lot of classic cars are sold with old tires but good treads, these are not safe, the Fraser Dante standards are very high and then now just installed by Fraser Dante are the expensive BRAND NEW Hankook Kinergy ST 205/70/R15 radial blackwall tires are just purchased (SEE LINK), then they are now just mounted and balanced, these really look great with the uprated size and the aggressive tread, now it really drives wonderful and better than new, the solid black restored show trunk area just done has a spare wheel and tire,

alloy wheel upgrade: even though this nice 1974 TR6 has the above mentioned correct stock wheels and new tires, note that there is also a new $1200 upgrade available with the very expensive new upgraded wheels that are very desirable, these are 15×5.5” light weight alloy Minilites period replicas with a set of the brand new expensive Michelin Defender 205/70/15 blackwall radials just installed,(LINK), this would be in place of the stock wheels, either choice is perfect!

Paint and body: great effort was spent by the previous owner on the presentation of this most solid car, he advised Fraser Dante that he took the car down to a bare metal condition, had a lot of hand sanding, note that the great body has just arrow straight metal, then he applied the top quality PPG Wimbledon White fresh paint, let is cure, then when acquired by Fraser Dante, our professional ‘artist’ did a brand new fresh wet sanding and buffing project with high speed buffers and special waxes, see that this fine work is just completed (LINK), to taping and prep by the staff before this work was accomplished, the new British Union Jack decal is used, the beautiful luggage rack was added for an nice touch, then the outside trim is just now buffed…

See the proper restored trunk area that is ‘as factory’ black for Driven Show presentation, then this has the black trunk carpeting, then in the restored trunk well area, there is a proper steel spare and tire that are both detailed, here is all ready for Summer 2020, 

Interior: tremendous effort just expended with a really nice beautiful black correct full interior, deluxe full bucket seats with headrests in the proper material that are very correct, our senior British tech says these may or not be original, so nice, very good condition with nice door panels, dual cross shoulder safety belts, new black carpet, polished wood dash just refurbished (LINK), very nice dash pod has the Smith’s gauges, all gauges work and are believed original, the oil pressure gauge shows very strong reading, the tach is working so well, even the Triumph wood gear shift knob that is new with the proper shifter boot is a nice touch,  

Summary:  note the quality of a Fraser Dante TR6, here is just an exceptional car with great restoration, a really top condition TR6 that will fill the demands of the collector who wants a pretty, rust free sports car convertible along with top mechanicals of this Triumph TR6, it is very hard to find a restoration just  finished with such a fabulous frame and chassis along with full suspension, the inside includes all working gauges, the bare metal restored White over Black interior with an outstanding very strong engine and fresh suspension, our British technician just completed many hours of the brake work and then the full tune up, this is completed for top Driven Show with full tune and fresh fluids yielding top mechanicals and final detailing just finished for Summer 2020, note the nice brand new 205/70/15 new radials for safe motoring, now very well presented and offered at only $28,950
