1967 VOLVO P1800S

1967 Volvo P1800S coupe with long Atlanta history, finished in factory White with very good trim, new black bucked seated interior, nice black rear and side panels, cross safety belts, striking red carpet, this was in the last owners loving care since 1983, there is a photo of the car when the initial restoration was done, a very solid and the original strong factory underchassis, has power steering, power front disc brakes, there are notes in the file from the last owner (SEE LINK), the strong factory 4 cylinder engine was rebuilt by the last Atlanta owner, strong four-cylinder engine produced 115 bhp with lots of low end torque, the top speed was 109 mph, great compression jut checked, uprated Weber carburetor set up (LINK), 4 speed transmission, excellent hydraulic clutch, after said work was done, this car was then seldom used according to the information from the family, we have receipts in the file of just some $10,790 that is just a part of the last owner’s expenses not counting the car and his other work, then for Spring 2020, Fraser Dante is putting more effort and money to make this a great classic piece that is fresh to drive and show, since the last owner was older and did not have the energy to do some maintaining of this fine car, we are now doing some new blending of the paint work in certain areas, (LINK), then buffing to bring out the color, (LINK), a full professional complete tune is going to be completed, has the front added amber driving lights as well as the amber lower running lights, stock wheels in great condition, new expensive radials are now just installed as this virtually sat for many years, full Smith’s gauges in the factory hammered dash fascia, the running lights are checked for driving, very nice look with the believed factory stainless trim on the car, real classic car art!

Engine/transmission: In 1966 the Volvo P1800S four-cylinder engine was updated to 115 horsepower, lots of low end torque, the top speed was 109 mph, this engine bay is nicely detailed for driven show, it was rebuilt by the previous owner with excellent compression of 141 to 152 psi just taken (LINK), the 4-speed transmission and the hydraulic clutch work just great, strong pull, new boot and shift handle, has the upgraded electronic ignition, redone radiator with fresh fluids, note that this has brand new spark plugs, excellent wires, the final setting of the valves and carb are done by a senior top tech at Fraser Dante…also see this notes of previous work (LINK), with the setup of both the power steering and front power disc brakes with universal brake booster that is stamped ‘ZE’…they are just checked, this is so much fun and easy to drive, history shows these strong cars just run for years,

interior: here is a very, very nice area of this 1967 Volvo P1800S, the front bucket seats and the rear area are redone with very nice black vinyl with a nice presentation, the carpet is a bright red, the factory stylish hammered dash fascia has the Smith’s gauges, they are the dual oil pressure gauges, the water temperature, fuel gauge, ammeter light, and uprated Sony AM-FM CD radio system, has the black really nice top padded fascia along the black proper dash with the instruments placed in them and are nicely detailed,

History: here is a very famous worldwide classic with very high design, the car is just like the cover of the Volvo 1800 book (LINK), the car was presented to the public for the first time at the Brussels Motor Show in January 1960, the Linwood, Scotland, body plant of manufacturer Pressed Steel was in turn sub-contracted by Jensen to create the unibody shells, which were then taken by rail to be assembled at Jensen in West Bromwich, England, in September 1960, the first production P1800 for the 1961 model year left Jensen for an eager public, then in 1963 production was moved to Volvo’s Lundby Plant in Gothenburg, the name was changed to 1800S (S) standing for Sverige or in English “Sweden”,  finally in 2009 this design was officially recognized as with Pelle Petterson’s authorship and creation,

Data tags: clearly seen in the engine bay, here are the data tags for the car production and the VIN#…see the (LINK), this appears to have the original factory grill in very nice shape, the amber driving lights really set off the front end,

Summary: this is really a famous car classic that has collectors all over the world driving them to shows and dinner, now as Fraser Dante is undergoing the newly described, we are happy to speak about an ‘as is’ price but when the new restoration work is done starting in mid-February, the final work and prep will have the fair price will be $28,950
