brakes/driving: to make sure the car drives well, the shocks are very good, now this has the Fraser Dante team doing the new rebuilt front GT disc brakes with new pads, then all the rear drum brake system is fully checked to assure they are in very good safe condition by our team, (LINK), has the proper GT front sway bar with good bushings, (LINK), brand new springs just installed (LINK), full alignment just completed (LINK),

history: note that this GT Mustang convertible is one of the most desirable vehicles ever produced, MUSTANG 1965 to ’66, with the total production that included the 1964 ½ with VIN of 1965 of 121,538, then the 1965 at 559,451 and the 1966 of 607,568 for now a total production of the classic Mustang of 1,288,557…the 1966 GT 76B is 12,520 built or .0097 or less than 1% of the production of these cars, the air conditioned cars were only 9.5% production, the 1966 GTs of coupes, convertibles and 2+2s were 4.2%…see the photo of the 1966 Mustang GT convertible in front of the Ford World Headquarters (LINK)this car came from a collection that was known by a serious Ford collector and dealer friend of ours, it was fully restored and family kept, it was used only as a show car since 1988 when the last North Carolina DMV sticker was issued for normal road use, with the 289 engine that has been rebuilt with excellent standards, one can use the car with the GT performance, the dash bezels look new, the trunk is in show condition with nice paint inside, original rear quarters, the desirable GT wood steering wheel in great shape, see the interior with the blue proper carpet, has the Mustang blue floor mats, this has all the GT equipment that included the heavy duty sway bar, has the proper factory GT quick ratio steering box with tab on the box for a GT, has the rear lower crush panels that are very important to confirm a real GT…also the front

underchassis: the floors are so solid, at the initial dealer all those years ago, it was delivered with a very slight black extra coating to protect as was normal in 1966, then in the restoration and show prep through the years, this is painted black for top show standards for many years, in August 2020, Fraser Dante then is redoing the black chassis again for top presentation, (LINK) note that the lower pinch welds on the valence are straight as an arrow, the Ford factory numbers are clearly visible, (LINK) it is very important to be this good and unmolested,

note: see the new photos of the stampings in the lower horizontal valences, they also show the very straight lower factory ‘pinch’ welds are great and the Ford factory stampings are clear as a bell, rear quarters are factory originals, the front fenders are proper Ford Mustang, the VIN # on the inner fender is clear as a bell, said ‘A’ Code proper hidden number is found under the passenger side inner fender, all of this steel is outstanding,

Costing notes: starting in mid-2020, the costings to build and restore classic cars is climbing, we are faced with limited supply  from the orient today, even when we can find our top quality parts, paints and tires, our costings are way higher, shipping is higher, our own staff now takes serious health precautions on our shop to protect themselves, our insurance is higher, thusly as we go forward at Fraser Dante, we will keep up our top quality but are forced to raise our prices with the big nut we have today, just wetsanded and buffed (LINK),

Summary: it is very hard to find a real factory GT convertible with such a really wonderful body and great chassis that is ‘as factory’ and rust free, has lots of options and a show history, rebuilt strong 289cid with just outstanding compression, thusly all the work is to be completed with many hours of top professional work to freshen up this rare real Mustang GT convertible at the Fraser Dante shop, it is now offered out of the Fraser Dante shop
