1966 Mustang 2+2 ‘GT’ gorgeous presentation that is fully restored and built from a most solid ‘C‘ Code 2+2 being finished today with terrific great options for the really demanding Mustang driver, truly this is a just Classic Mustang 2+2 in timeless design with a fresh build, a just beautiful Raven Black with side ‘GT’ Red stripes and full GT running upgrades, just wonderful luster and exciting presentation, here is a great 2+2 with slight ‘resto’ upgrades just as a ‘GT’ and with options that are very desired today, built for the real collector who wants to drive a car aggressively along with ease of driving, just a really terrific rust body with an outstanding detailed show underchassis, very hard find such excellent straight steel and body, a very strong correct rebuilt real GT 289cid engine that has a proper build date in August 1965, great compression better than stock, this unit came from a factory GT car known to Fraser Dante, we did the new expert installation, uprated Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake with the perfect matching street #1403 500cfm carburetor, a terrific crisp powerful fresh sound, has the expensive ‘Open’ Cobra valve covers just installed, GT exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers, top loader 4-speed transmission with the upgraded Hurst shifter, expensive brand new Borgeson variable ratio power steering system just installed, a brand new expensive Vintage air conditioning unit and system just installed and blows cold, new aluminum radiator with new flex fan and fan shroud adds to the excellent cooling system, the  new front SSBC power disc brakes with new dual line booster assembly is just added, new front Shelby sway bar and bushings, also has the additional rear sway bar to enhance handling, new beautiful black interior, Shelby Competition safety belts, black new dash, white faced gauges, GT wood steering wheel, working new 1966 Ralley Pac, fold down rear, new Custom Autosound Radio system, dual chrome outside mirrors, ‘GT’ fog lights, the last owner claimed this was a complete restoration, then Fraser Dante brought this up to an even better presentation, has just an excellent body and great lower ‘pinch’ welds, a just sensational gloss painted show quality underchassis, then Fraser Dante did the dated GT engine install, this has the many (LINKS) included in this writeup that give specifics on many details with recent add one’s listed specifically, this has the Mustang ‘High Performance’ emblem installed for all the work accomplished, this has new correct 1966 styled steel 14” wheels with trim rings, center caps, has brand new expensive B.F. BODY/CHASSIS: here is a just beautiful Raven Black top quality paint, has an amazing luster, has the side red ‘GT’ striping on lower doors, a great straight body, this color combination is very desired, has the proper ‘GT’ fog lights as well as the proper GT dual exhaust system exits, dual chrome outside mirrors, it is believed that these are possibly the original body panels, note the very clear proper VIN# stampings on the front inner fenders that show the excellent inner metal condition of the metal, the detailed full show engine bay metal is outstanding, see the fresh bolts that show the attention to detail in this fresh presentation, this recent car had work done and was initially sold to Fraser Dante as a “comprehensive frame-off restoration” with the body and paint confirming said claim, also the lower chassis work with the shows the outstanding exterior body condition, the front and rear bumpers are excellent chrome, then Fraser Dante Classic Cars completed the additional work as described in our professional shop,

Data tag: this has a new Kevin Marti authorized produced data tag installed (LINK), just as the car is today, the inner driver’s side inner fender with the so very clear public VIN# of #6T09C234368 that is shown with a close up photo to confirm (LINK), then Fraser Dante has said number checked with the Georgia Police with the clean T22b form to confirm, all this shows a fine car with no problems,

the underchassis is just really sensational…one of the nicest around that is confirmed with new excellent new photos to confirm, this area is now re-painted and then waxed with an great presentation that is ready for a top quality show, really a high point of a top quality classic Mustang, this lower strong underchassis area will also give great handling and chassis support, the photos do not even show how really nice this lower chassis is today, (LINK), panels are simply ‘as new’ with no signs of any previous damage that we can tell, all the other underside components are original, great side lower rockers with the excellent factory body side ‘pinch welds’, these lower horizontal rocker valence still have the very easy to read the clear Ford production stamped numbers, these stampings show the just great condition, 

ENGINE: this car was initially purchased by Fraser Dante with a typical auction claimed ‘built’ 302cid engine, it was simply a worn out piece of iron when checked at the Fraser Dante shop, to uprate for better driving and being more correct, we pulled said engine and then installed a very proper dated August 1965 GT 289cid built engine (SEE LINK FOR THE ENGINE SPECS), we know the history of this engine unit, it came from the 1966 factory GT car with that said engine that had been built by a top local Mustang guy when we acquired the car, we pulled the engine from that car as said last owner of the GT upgraded and went to a new, expensive bored and balanced 302 block with the full Edelbrock aluminum top end, thusly Fraser Dante acquired this fresh 289 engine that is now installed in this black/red car, see the very clean hydraulic lifter heads are seen with the valve covers off on this dated 289cid unit that are very correct for such a GT build  (SEE THE LINK), note the strong compression of 156 to 164 lbs in a dry/cold reading just checked (LINK), better than stock, the cam is believed to be an uprated ¾ street grind, power is assumed at the 240+ horsepower area today, also when this engine was installed, Fraser Dante upgraded to the Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake manifold with new gaskets, a brand new Edelbrock Performer #1403 500 cfm carburetor with the manual choke is installed and easy to operate (LINK), this gives more power, better fuel economy and lighter weight on the front end, also note that after the new Edelbrock aluminum intake and carburetor were installed, said top end was painted correct Ford engine blue color to look very stock,

a brand new video is just taken so one can hear now it great this sounds (LINK), when this engine was installed, the techs at Fraser Dante pulled the lower pan, checked the lower main and rod bearings, installed a new pan gasket, installed a new water pump, new timing chain gears, new oil pump, fresh engine mounts, now this setup only has test miles on the final build, now this has the brand new uprated aluminum radiator with new hoses and clamps that is just installed along with a fan shroud, this is set up for great cooling now installed, the fresh expensive new Cobra Open valve covers with the heavy duty FelPro cork gaskets installed for top show conditions, has great wiring, has really terrific full complete engine detailing, has the engine timing set along with the brand new ‘Spectra Premium’ distributor, (LINK), note the Cobra proper air cleaner with the hi-po orange air filter, the full tune completed is with new show Ford C5OZ spark plug wires, new Autolite copper core ‘45’ spark plugs (LINK), the timing and valves are professionally set,

Set up with a desired top loader 4-speed transmission with the Hurst shifter for better driving, the install and test driving make this unit just fine, now also just installed is an expensive new strong DuraLast Gold battery with 750 cold cranking amps for great starting, has the new proper cables (LINK), this car has the full testing by the staff of Fraser Dante is just completed, the terrific engine bay is detailed to MCA driven show presentation,

Fresh full tune…oil/filter: the oil and filter are changed and upgraded to protect the engine, Fraser Dante uses very expensive special high-tech racing oil with added zinc content with Valvoline VR1 20-50 to insure long term performance, since today’s gasoline and standard oils have cleaners added, these early non-catalytic engines need the heavy duty oil for lubrication purposes (LINK), this process is very costly and used only from top operations as Fraser Dante… 

INTERIOR: has a correct black new full dash installed, great GT wood steering wheel, a full 1966 6000 rpm Rally Pac set up with proper wiring that is just installed, this unit $408 plus install for a total costing of some $650 (LINK), has the full new black standard bucket seated interior, great padding, the side door panels are also redone nicely, full black carpeting, has front special Mustang floor mats, has the fold down rear seat with new carpet and fresh chrome hinge, nicely detailing interior, has the new dash gauge cluster installed with the great looking white faced gauges that are new, the radio is a new Custom Autosound 300 watt AM/FM unit (SEE LINK), note that the trunk spare is a Coker Classic dual red line P195/75/R14 for show purposes,

This has the just installed brand new Shelby 3” ‘Racer Brown’ Competition style safety belts with the special race front clamps, the side mounted hook large washer mounts and the large washer lower secure black safety belts, look great and are very safe with the ‘2021’ safety tag on them, 

BRAKES/SUSPENSION: here is an outstanding area as this car really drives better than a stock GRT, now this has the brand new expensive SSBC stainless dual line front power GT disc brake system with new lines just installed by the techs at Fraser Dante (SEE LINK), also this system is just enhanced with the brand new dual line power brake booster assembly that is just now available on the market, this full install that is just completed is worth some $3800++ in the Fraser Dante shop, also the rear drums are just fully done, then fluids added and road tested, all of this yields great stopping power, then to make the handling better, now set up with the new larger Shelby 1” front sway bar and urethane bushings, this goes along with the added rear sway bar with bushings that is better than stock, all the shocks are new Monroe units just installed, the attitude of the car is just excellent, note that all this brand new professional work is installed at Fraser Dante,

History: this model Mustang is so important with this file has copies of Ford Brochures showing this 1966 Mustang that can be used for showing of this iconic 2+2, (LINK), this is the same body as used in the famous 1965-66 Shelby GT 350s, note that the Mustang is one of the most desirable vehicles ever produced for everyone, the MUSTANG 1965 to ’66, one of the first collector cars in America being good looking, fun to drive, the ’65-’66 Mustang was so popular that over 1,100,000 were made in the mid 60’s, the ‘ 65 and ’66 Mustang convertible and 2+2s are perhaps among the most collectable cars in the world, these are popular in Sweden, France, The Netherlands, Australia, just everywhere, men and women, old and young all love this car, these models are really a trouble-free car, it is easy to maintain with lots of parts available to maintain, here this specific car with the above details of facts today is now finished to present with great ‘eyes’ and strong mechanicals,
