1966 Mustang Show Quality Convertible with GT upgrades for better than factory performance with recent work that is really just prepared for a terrific fresh build…this is presented as a proven Fraser Dante Driven Show car out of our shop, now just finished in just terrific CandyApple Red with great luster along with a very straight all steel body, has the lower rocker moldings, very nice chrome trim and bumpers, the inner rockers look very fresh, a ‘C’ code 289cid production car that is now uprated to better than ‘A Code’ GT code specs, built like a ‘K Code’, the numbers on the rebuilt engine are proper castings along with the rare, hard to get and very expensive #20/21 Hi-Po Mustang heads, now fitted with hydraulic lifters, this has the new Edelbrock #1406 600 cfm carb and the matching Performer aluminum intake system that is painted proper Ford engine blue, has the new MCA Cobra kit with the expensive clear Cobra finned ‘open’ valve covers and the hi-po orange air cleaner, now set up as a GT with the rear dual exhaust full system, has the 4-speed top loader transmission with the correct shifter, new heavy duty clutch system, long factory console, completely updated mechanicals and extras for driven show prepared for Spring 2021, the attached sheets with the data tag (LINK) are part of this exacting report, highly presented original solid underchassis with great ‘pinch welds’ just painted in proper black, now installed brand new very expensive 1965 correct chrome show 14×6 styled steel wheels, red new center caps and chrome lug nuts (these wheels and accessories are very hard to source today), also 195/75/14 brand new show tires narrow band radial whitewalls just installed (LINK), new heavy duty Monroe shocks, has very good suspension and excellent springs, brand new rear leaf springs and shackles just installed for proper stance, this is road checked to insure this can drive to a show or dinner, all the chrome is really just in an outstanding presentation for a just striking presentation,

Costing notes: important…in 2021, pricing to build and restore classic cars is climbing, we are faced with limited supplies from the orient and domestically, when we can find our top quality parts, paints and tires, our costings are higher, shipping is higher, our staff takes serious health precautions in our shop to protect everyone, our insurance is higher, as we go forward at Fraser Dante, we will keep our top quality builds but are forced to raise our prices with the big nut we have today, 

Engine: a really strong point is the engine that is set up for top driving, a correct rebuilt uprated 289cid with the proper numbers on the engine that are proper castings (SEE LINK OF ENGINE INFO), strong compression, this engine was rebuilt by the last owner and then finished in the Fraser Dante shop, a big added plus is this 289cid engine is fitted with just excellent heads, they are very rare, hard to get and very expensive #20/21 Hi-Po Mustang heads that are shown in photo (LINK), these were used on the Mustang ‘K’ codes and the Shelby engines, these are redone and now fitted with hydraulic lifters for both performance and better street use, this has the new Edelbrock #1406 600 cfm 4v carb and the matching Edelbrock Performer intake system that is painted proper Ford engine blue, has the new MCA Cobra chrome kit with the hi-po orange air cleaner filter, show expensive clear Cobra finned ‘open’ valve covers that are just refinished in our shop and the FelPro gaskets, now set up as a GT with the rear dual exhaust full system,

Transmission/clutch: the transmission is a dated C6AR 4-speed top loader transmission (SEE LINK OF NUMBERS), it works well with the stock linkage being adjusted, Fraser Dante is adding our expensive brand new, top quality heavy duty ‘Ram’ full clutch system, this expensive stronger than stock set up has been tested by Fraser Dante in our Mustangs, the install work includes the flywheel being turned by our sub along with a throw-out bearing (SEE LINK), the senior staff makes sure this new unit and setup works just perfect in our road testing,

Tune/timing: The full professional tune by the Fraser Dante team just completed to make sure that driving is a pleasure, this has all brand new spark plugs and wires, this full setup is completed with new show Ford Autolite 7mm spark plug wires, new Autolite copper core ‘45’ spark plugs (SEE LINK), note that the engine bay is now highly show detailed just as factory produced,

Racing oil/filter: just installed is the Special Valvoline high performance VR1 20-50 high zinc oil that is added along with new filter for excellent engine protection (LINK), said oil gives the proper zinc for the lubrication of the engine, note this step by using the top racing quality oil that can only be used on engines without a catalytic converter, only top shops go to this expense, 

Mustang history: here is a true gorgeous show worthy classic Mustang, for sure an early car restored to the very top standards for Driven Show, the history of the great and so collectable 1964 ½ to 1966 Mustang Convertible is shown with the Popular Science article in May 1964 with the famous and dearly loved, Dan Gurney, driving the car, there are also copies of the original Ford Mustang literature than come with the car for show purposes and specs…see the (LINK) with these display items for the car, prepared and ready to enjoy along with the staff at Fraser Dante to discuss our work,

Trunk and spare: here is just completed is the full trunk show detailing with the most solid floors, one can see the new painted floors around the new fuel tank, the left side board is properly in place, then the new show plaid trunk mat is added, then finally a spare tire and jack…ready to show and drive!
