1966 Mustang convertible in the striking Springtime Yellow as the data tag shows that is a factory so happy a color, looks just like a classic Mustang should appear!!! Really tops mechanically for great driving with the final prep just completed for Summer 2020, has the correct complete Biscuit Pony interior, full correct factory console, 4 safety belts, very nice a bit older biscuit top, this has the dated believed the original and for sure rebuilt 289cid engine, has really great compression better than new just checked, a restored factory original Autolite 2100 carburetor on the C6 intake, presented now with the new MCA Cobra chrome valve covers and air intake for the kit, has the correct expensive factory ‘C’ code cross exhaust system, C-4 automatic transmission just checked at Fraser Dante, now set up well for performance and show purposes, a full professional tune, all brand new installed radiator hoses and new clamps, just restored factory dated radiator with the new coolant, full professional fresh tune, a new coil, fresh cap and rotor, Ford proper spark plug wires, Autolite plugs, all the wiring appears excellent, said timing checked and road tested, just fully checked for top performance, an extremely local quality Driven MCA show condition both mechanically and cosmetically, a very rare history as coming from a serious Mustang collector family since 1983 until Fraser Dante acquired it in June 2020, has the proper ‘C’ code exhaust system, has the uprated and very desirable dual line front disc brakes, well working Ford power steering, this has nice solid driver condition lower floors that have had good upkeep through the years, this yellow factory color with the proper Pony interior is shown with the believed original DATA TAG (LINK), has 1966 styled steel wheels with proper trim rings, center caps, has the great looking new narrow band Hankook radial tires, see the wood Pony interior with the correct factory console, has a very nice expensive Mustang factory wood steering wheel, uprated Custom Autosound radio system, the 1966 Mustang Owner’s Manual dated ‘Third Printing April 1966’ (LINK) is believed to be the one that came with this car, equipped with the older Autolite tinted front windshield, has the lower stainless rockers, the paint is very nice with the recent high speed buffing with note that there were some very minor touch up spots that were nicely addressed by our professional paint touch up guy, the final prep and the mechanicals were just finished July 2020…with the power disc brakes, this drives really great!
Engine: here is the great working original rebuilt 289cid engine with limited rebuilt miles on it, the family told us is was re-done and now Fraser Dante has confirmed that fact as has the heads that were obviously redone and installed in the new build, the engine block with a dry reading compression just taken from 150psi to 164 psi across (LINK) that is even better than factory new, shows the rebuild with said high readings, the heads look very fresh with the clean rockers and heads shown with the valve covers off as shown, they have new gaskets installed, the timing and valves are just set, now the intake is just taken off, the new FelPro gasket is used, means the seal is great, note the factory intake is cast with C6 date correctly, the Mustang aluminum tab is still on the intake with the 289c 66 9 stamped (SEE THE LINK), the valuable restored radiator is Ford factory C4 dated and ‘as factory’ stamped and now has been sent to our top sub for restoration work, then filled with fresh new fluids, new hoses top and bottom with clamps, has the proper expensive factory correct rear transverse single exhaust exit system with new muffler, few of these cars have this system today, now ready with the full tune up just completed at Fraser Dante with new show Ford spark plug wires, excellent Autolite copper core ‘45’ spark plugs (SEE LINK), this is just driven show detailed with the new MCA Cobra kit installed, note that brand new cooling hoses both upper and lower along with new clamps are just installed (LINK)…these were added when the dated radiator was restored all said fluids were added, this Mustang just drives great!
Carburetor/intake: when received at Fraser Dante, this had a proper show and factory rebuilt Autolite 2100 carburetor to go with the dated Ford C6 proper intake manifold, since this had been sitting for a while, the Fraser Dante techs have now pulled the intake, installed the new FelPro gasket, this factory combination works very well, then the carburetor and linkage are just setup by the senior Fraser Dante tech, the we just installed the MCA approved Cobra kit, chrome valve covers, then the MCA HI-PO chrome air filter and the HI-PO orange air filter, then road tested, now ready to enjoy,
Racing oil/filter: Special Valvoline high performance VR1 20-50 high zinc oil is added along with new filter for engine protection (LINK), said oil gives the proper zinc for the lubrication of the engine, note this step is using the top racing quality oil that can only be used on engines without a catalytic converter,
Transmission: this has the desirable C-4 green dot 3-speed automatic transmission, it works properly in a long factory interior console with the factory automatic shift handle, now the transmission is checked in the Fraser shop, then it is road tested to check all the systems, now makes this very easy to drive,
Interior: a very strong point is the full just beautiful desirable Pony biscuit colored interior in just fine condition, the padded seats are well done, has the full correct factory console, the Pony door panels match, has the desirable factory Deluxe GT wood steering wheel in top condition that is a very expensive item today, has 4 safety belts, the beige dash and padded top pod setup are the correct beige color, has the Custom AutoSound uprated radio with the brochure to come with the car, simply a striking presentation with the Springtime Yellow color, also this as the very nice, just really top quality biscuit tan non-power top is prepared for driven show, easy to operate by one person, it matches the interior, there are a few very minor places that has now been addressed by our interior team and are hard to see in the small place by the rear top bow, it is hard to see, note this has the dual outside mirrors have just been added, also has the interior day/night mirror,
exterior: this car was painted by the last family a few years ago and was in their Atlanta garage, very carefully kept as a true treasure, then when Fraser Dante acquired the car, there were no rust issues, then our own shop and with our top professional sub who then wet sanded and buffed the car, then we had our other top notch paint guy who knows how to paint and blend to take out virtually all of the minor imperfections, he worked the paint, then the final hand prep by our guys, it is done very well to make this now a simply great local driven show car one can be proud of,
wheels and tires: this has the proper as factory show quality 1966 styled steel wheels in the 14×6 size, they have the proper trim rings and center caps, they are now mounted with the great looking new narrow band Hankook radial whitewall tires, these tires are the uprated Hankook H724 Optimo 205/70/R14 size, these are dated in mid-2019, note that many classic cars do not have such good fresh tires like this…now it really drives great,
underchassis: here is a nice local driven show underchassis, painted black, nice and solid condition as noting that during the time before the last Atlanta family had the car, (LINK) two of the lower footwell floors were replaced, one was done with the factory pan and the other one was hand constructed out of steel and installed, this area is fine and noting the chassis is so strong, it is one of the best driving Mustang convertibles we have had in years, in Summer 2020, Fraser Dante added some new low black paint to look good,
Costing notes: starting in mid-2020, the costings to build and restore classic cars is climbing, we are faced with limited supply from the orient today, even when we can find our top quality parts, paints and tires, our costings are way higher, shipping is higher, our own staff now takes serious health precautions on our shop to protect themselves, our insurance is higher, thusly as we go forward at Fraser Dante, we will keep up our top quality but are forced to raise our prices with the big nut we have today,
