Body/chassis: here is a very high point of this car, note that this has the just really excellent original factory front stamped fenders and original rear quarters, the current photos show the condition today for verification of past and now current status, this has the fantastic great floors (LINK) and the rear trunk drip rails with all the Ford stampings, Fraser Dante exacting photos show the front factory fender stampings on both sides (LINK) along with the ‘R’ VIN # clearly stamped on the driver’s side inner fender (LINK), this is perhaps one of the really best classic Mustangs available today with such California originality, a great body and chassis with the Ford stamped fenders and the lower rockers with stamped factory numbers and the dated engine, original insulation still on inner floors (LINK), new black carpeting just installed (LINK),
Suspension: this has now four new Monroe shocks just installed, this works well to couple the full complete drum braking system with shoes, hoses and new brake cylinders, has new front-end bushings installed with proper ‘C’ code sway bar, then after the new tires and bushings are done, a fresh front end professional alignment is being completed for ease of safe driving,
Engine/mechanicals: very hard to find in these times today for a 1966 Mustang to have just great dates everywhere seen with the complete engine and components, all signs that this is a correct 289 cid rebuilt engine with fresh heads with photos to document said condition today (LINK), the initial published specs of this famous 289cid with the bore of 4.00” and a short stroke of 2.57” are for at the factory rating of 200 horsepower @ 4400 rpm along with the strong 282 ft/lbs. of torque at 3200 rpm, this free reviving engine is a great engineering piece, brand new confirmation of the said status that being checked with all the dated C5AE-factory numbers with full information (LINK)…now that this has moved from a long time status collection type car to now improving the car’s operation for top driven show with the experts at Fraser Dante, has the rare and correct Autolite 2100 carburetor show carburetor just restored and fitted, believed completely engine rebuilt with factory ratings from the numbers and photos of the fresh heads (LINK)…this now is set up with rare MCA show California Smog equipment that is usually discarded after all these years, now the uprated restored 3 row radiator has been rebuilt and just been flushed with fresh coolant added, has the new show hoses with the clamps installed, uprated Duralast radiator cap, the new test drive shows the car just operates great and just purrs (SEE THE VIDEO LINK), ready to enjoy!
the new tune up includes the new cap, rotor and points for the checked distributor with the timing is set, this has new spark plugs, brand new 7 mm proper spark plug wires, (LINK), the valve cover gaskets were just replaced when the heads were checked, also a brand new proper 24FA expensive battery with cables and clamps are just now installed for ease of operation, (LINK),
oil/filter: the oil and filter are now changed and upgraded thusly to protect the engine, Fraser Dante uses very expensive special high-tech racing oil with added zinc content with Valvoline VR1 20-50 to insure long term performance, since today’s gasoline and standard oils have cleaners added, these early non-catalytic engines need the heavy duty oil and the added zinc for lubrication purposes (LINK) for these older engines, this is very costly and used only from shops who have top operations as Fraser Dante, all of this tune and check work now will insure great driving,
wheels/tires: now just installed on the car are the desirable, expensive and now very hard to get great 1965 styled steel 14×6 wheels with red center caps and proper lug nuts, then just now put on are the brand new set of the Hankook Kinergy 195/75/R14 narrow band whitewall radial tires installed mounted and balanced by Fraser Dante (LINK), these tires alone would retail at $422 with fees plus tax, note that many people sell classic cars with older tires, this now also has a spare tire and spare, this has a service jack, with these tires now installed here is another recent expense that adds looks and new driving safety,
This came with the rare five original wire spinner hubcaps with proper blue 1966 center caps that were found in the trunk, this shows this was an original steel wheel car, these are rare hubcaps indeed, these can be used for show purposes, (LINK)
Note on build costing for 2020: please understand in the real world today, as a builder and restorer of classic Mustangs, the parts chain supply stream is either cut off or in very limited supply, when we get our needed restoration parts, the costings are very much higher than before, the value of the build costing of these quality Mustangs is climbing higher for sure, having been in business for many years, Fraser Dante has a large stock of needed parts for these cars that cover a lot of our needs, we run a professional shop with full time staff along with expert subs for specifics who have worked with us for years, the values of the top-quality classic 1965-1966 convertibles and 2+2s Mustangs are strongly climbing,
Trunk area: when this car was received at Fraser Dante, this had the mostly ‘as factory’ trunk area still in place, believed the original trunk mat was still there with a new one to cover, now the rear trunk area is being stripped, fully painted correctly, then a new show plaid mat is installed, the left side proper wood insert panel to cover the lower opening, a spare wheel and tire are in place, has he plaid show cover, a jack is under the wheel,
