1962 Chevrolet Bel Air 409/409 Bubble Top with frame off restoration of a Los Angeles production unit, a long list of the many numbers to support the fine condition, finished in just gorgeous factory Tuxedo Black along with a full correct factory beautiful Red correct interior, this matches with shown original data tag, the VIN#216376L186822 shows this to be a Los Angeles production of the Bel Air 2 door coupe, this has the proper built 409cid unit with the RPO ‘587’ 409 horsepower 409cid set up, thusly equipped with the correct engine casting number #3788068 for the production car, this engine casting thusly is only for the 1962s and this is dated properly before the car build, presented with just now supplied in this report that have the many current notes, photos and ‘numbers’…this engine stamping is only for a “.....409......1962-63”, rebuilt properly dated heads that match the engine (LINK), outstanding compression with 171 to 179 psi in a dry cold reading just taken, has the correct dual 4V carbs, carburetors are the proper dual Carter AFB’s, has a floor mounted shifter for the factory numbered 4-speed transmission and tail shaft, has the correct 1963 409cid chrome dual four air cleaner and valve covers, see the attached notes of the facts that are shown (LINK) that yield all the data known to this writer, has the restored red history shows that is out of Washington State, Nebraska and then to Atlanta, simply a reallohy terrific underchassis that is believed to be all original metal, now very nicely show detailed with red oxide, (LINK) in the restoration, the body work is terrific as all panels believed to be ‘as factory’, this California produced car had the state required solid bumpers when it was initially produced and now this has been upgraded to the more desirable split chrome bumpers, recently had a full profession engine tune and setup of this valuable engine (LINK), has the proper working period steering column mounted tachometer, full factory red interior bench seat kit with door panels are show ready, has the fresh high-tech oil and filter, systems checked in the test driving,

Engine: here is a very famous 409 horsepower version of the 409 cid engine that was available in 1962, it developed 1 hp per cubic inch with a dual four-barrel aluminum intake manifold and the two Carter AFB carburetors, massive torque, the RPO ‘587’ 409 horsepower 409cid cost $376.65… this top 409 horsepower had the two "D" series (500 cfm each) Carter AFB carbs….noting the only difference in the engines was the external induction fuel system...according to the information via the factory, it had a forged steel crankshaft, note that this dual-quad version was immortalized in the Beach Boys song titled "409", here in this car is the very correct 409cid engine with all the codes, this engine casting number that clearly shows #3788068 that is only for the 1962 409s…the date code is properly before the production date of the car, there is not a VIN # on the paid, please see all of our specific (LINKS) that shows all of the actual numbers, then, we have taken an attached group of the very important photos that further show exactly what we have here today (SEE THE PHOTO LINKS), as stated above, now in Spring 2019, a dry cold compression reading is taken with the results of 171 to 179 lbs…better then new (LINK), this has the correct and proper heads #3814690 that are dated correctly with the car (LINKS OF PHOTOS), we have the dual 4vs Carter AFB #1481 carburetors that are correct castings, they are mounted on the aluminum GM Winters stamping with the numbers of #3814881, see all the numbers that are posted along with the many actual photos just taken (SEE ALL OF THE EXTENSIVE LINKS), once this car came to Atlanta, now this has receipts for all the valves are just set for great driving, a full professional tune was and is recently completed that is very exacting, all aspects of the carbs that were fully restored in said receipt (LINK) as well as the final work in Fraser Dante that our photos show,

additional work:  Also in the restoration, in order for this famous engine to work well, this 1962 Bel Air Sport coupe has had a new fuel tank and the complete system installed for better fuel induction for aggressive driving performance,

Red interior/lighting: one of the high points of this presentation is the full new factory red bench seated interior, the red material has the correct metallic inserts that looks sharp and fresh, note the back seats have the gorgeous silver inserts design, has the proper ‘salt and pepper’ carpet kit installed, great inner door sills, the 1962 Bel Air hereby presented has the proper and original horn cap, has the restored two pronged steering wheel, there are a bit of very minor pitting as this is believed to be factory original, see that the upper dash of red metal and the padded dash are restored, the dash fascia with the working gauges has been beautifully restored with stainless and gauges, all of the lighting is just checked in the Fraser Dante shop and it works as do the brake lights, all four headlights work, even the working radio appears to be the factory Chevrolet unit with the rear mounted antenna, 

Tachometer: here is a real plus in this '409' Bel Air, this has the original ‘Sun’ tachometer in the chrome case, also properly equipped on the driver’s side inner fender is the ‘Sun’ electronic sending unit (SEE THE PHOTOS), both the shop before Fraser Dante and our tach expert have checked the system, the fender Sun box is sending power but the original tachometer does not work, our expert says that taking these apart is very difficult and parts very hard to find, thusly Fraser Dante is installing the very cool new Bosch Retro Line 3 3/8” 8000 rpm working tachometer,(LINK) this will be great, the shown factory will come with the package for top show purposes, I personally love the very close ‘period’ but better Bosch unit, 

Trunk: see that the trunk area that is detailed for show, correct with the fresh proper GM show spray material just applied, all the metal is believed original, also note that this has the rear spare tire on the steel wheel that is properly placed in the very back upper area of the trunk, the whole area is prepared for long term protection of the metal, 

Wheels/suspension: note that the springs give the car a great ‘attitude’, the shocks were replaced in the restoration, see that the underchassis photos show the excellent restored lower trailing arms that look so solid and like factory, solid and protected with the proper black color,

The cool wheels are fresh 15x7 black steel wheels, they have the correct Chevrolet small 10 ½” ‘dog dish’ hubcaps that are perfect for show, these could even be rare original factory pieces but cannot confirm, the tires are blackwall 15” B.F.Goodrich radial TA’s with great tread, the fronts are P215/65 R15 and the rears are P235/60 R15s,

Brakes:  note that when this great ‘409’ was received in the Fraser Dante shop, all four brakes were checked and redone, the shoes are now fresh and the brake cylinders also fresh…all of this for safety and being able to use for top driven show, the photos show the work being completed,
