1965 Mustang San Jose ‘C’ Code Convertible fully restored, a rare production car that is now restored with the full 'GT' upgrades, just absolutely beautiful Vintage Burgundy paint with great shine…with the white 'GT' stripes that finishes a striking presentation with great luster and really straight body lines, full GT light systems, new two-tone Burgundy and White Pony complete interior, white power top, white boot, 610 miles on completely rebuilt 289cid engine, bored +.40 over, properly dated May 1965 block and heads showing the believed original engine, 4v Holley carburetor, just outstanding compression, fresh new tune, a fresh Cobra show kit, Flowmaster dual ‘H’ pipe aluminized exhaust system, rebuilt C4 automatic transmission, uprated Borgeson power steering, front dual line SSBC disc brakes with great pads, full fresh braking system with the rear drums, the complete redone dash has the new white-faced gauges, fresh brake check, GT door panels, beautiful factory Mustang wood steering wheel, full factory console, new both front and rear safety belts, has the original data tag, the underchassis is really exceptional with lots of quality work, metal professionally replaced for solid show presentation, now is the type for European exacting standards, just an excellent body, has many factory promotional brochures, great suspension that features new springs, uprated KYB shocks, under hood support braces, original proper sway bar with good bushings, now drives great with full prep in the Fraser Dante shop, the Pony interior with all door panels, has four brand new Scott Drake safety belts, great inner floors that are red oxided (SEE THE PHOTOS), very solid underchassis with great attention for excellent condition with a very light protective sealant coat on the bottom to protect, photos show how good, 

History: very hard today to find such a great convertible with the original body door tag, a San Jose production and a Los Angeles (71) DSO (SEE LINK) along with the proper VIN# on the fenders, the door tag matches completely, this very nice Mustang was found in the Atlanta area a few years ago and then underwent a full restoration now with less than 600 miles, receipts in the file NOT including the car itself are for $30,919 in restoration work, this includes the engine machine work with the owner of the shop doing the engine build himself with no receipt, then said owner went on to other projects, the project sat for a while, did not even have any street registration for late 2016, 2017 and mid-2018, then Fraser Dante bought the car and finished the full restoration, the said tires had good tread but were old and then Fraser Dante put on brand new whitewall radials, full engine detailing, final chassis detailing, an uprated heavy suspension installed to make this a top performance show car, then the paint and body have been just been professionally wet sanded and buffed, (LINK), has factory stampings (LINK), we figure the total costing in this project is at least $50,000 and now ready to go for Fall 2018,  

Engine:  this ’65 Mustang convertible has the famous 289cid engine that has all indications of being the original engine, see the date codes of May 1965 on the block and heads, note that they are perfect for the June car build, this engine has been rebuilt from information supplied when Fraser Dante bought the car, has the receipt for the engine pulling, then sent was sent to a machine shop, the block is cleaned and prepped, full machine work on the galleys, the crankshaft, pistons, cam shaft, oil pump and water pump and the timing chain, the owner of the shop hand built the engine, and as shown with excellent compression that is most even from 150 to 160 lbs in dry cold reading (SEE ENGINE LINK), said reading shows how strong and better than new high and even readings, one can see the photos fresh heads and rockers, this stock C5AE correct dated engine is hard to find today, the intake is also the Ford C5AE 9425 that is correct, a newer Holley 4v 600 cfm carburetor is used by Fraser Dante for both performance and economy, the hydraulic lifter heads look good and very clean confirming their build, they are clearly date stamped (SEE LINK), see the ‘289’ stampings along with the dated numbers of 5D23 and 5D21, April 1965 for a car build of June 1965, (LINK),

an interesting point, after being built the car did little mileage, now the engine has fresh new tune completed including the points and timing set, all the correct wiring is fine, the 7mm plug wires are new Motorcraft, new Autolite #45 spark plugs, new battery with cover, new battery cables, now presented are the MCA approved Cobra full kit with the chrome valve covers and chrome air cleaner with the orange HiPo air filter for the K codes and Shelby’s, has the correct exhaust manifolds, sized proper dual aluminized exhaust system, this is correctly done with the ‘H’ pipe under the car,

transmission:  here is a great working C4 Green Dot 3 speed transmission, the file has receipts showing the transmission rebuild in the start of the restoration process, in 2015, there are receipts for $1307 for said transmission rebuild, on top of that, there were costings for fluids that are not recorded, in the final testing at Fraser Dante, fluids checked and road testing completed, this is even date coded of C4-C5DR-7006-A, all new lines,    

Driveshaft: working with Fraser Dante is an added benefit for those who really want their classic Mustang to drive ‘as new’, we are not a warehouse operation as Fraser Dante does have a professional restoration staff, the rear end is checked with all new lube and works great, see the ‘number’ of it posted, (LINK), we believe this driveshaft had been in the car most likely from new, at considerable expense we had the driveshaft professionally rebuilt by our top sub, the main tube is tube spun and fully checked, new “U” joints installed to make sure this is vibration free and strong, the slip yoke has also been addressed, the balanced, restored driveshaft in order to insure safe and vibration free driving, fully balanced and strength checked, new yokes and slip joints restored, then painted black to protect and look good (LINK),   

Wheels and tires: this has brand new great chrome 1965 styled steel wheels with chrome lug nuts and new center caps, just installed are the newly balanced P195/75/R14 Hankook Optimo narrow band radial whitewalls, this install is expensive today, there is a spare non-matching tire that is on a steel wheel, full trunk plaid mat and tire cover, front dual line SSBC disc brakes just checked (LINK), full fresh braking system with the rear drums,

Interior: this has the full complete full Pony interior both front and rear, two tone with the Burgundy and White combination, really great padding, proper full Pony complete side panels, full handles and cups, full brand new four Scott Drake safety belts, (LINK), matching  Burgundy carpet, 4 Mustang floor mats, full proper console, has the wood GT steering wheel that is very expensive today, the gauges have been tastefully upgraded to being white faced, this combination is really terrific with high design and great colors that go with the Vintage Burgundy outside color,

chassis: note that his has a great all the steel presentation on the underchassis is now in just top shape, some floor pans were expertly replaced as it normal in a quality build, then a small area of the lower sides were fixed with new metal as factory, all solid and rust free, then a very light layer of protective covering is applied to make sure this chassis remains in very solid condition, one can see the full floors and how nice they are, the type that is very good for European standards that are required, one can see from the inner top photos, you can see the red oxide and how great said chassis really is, (LINK)

SUMMARY: for sure this Mustang is a perfect driven show car with all fresh restoration work completed, presented in a great color combination that is very hard to find today…a very striking appearance, Fraser Dante went to great efforts to buy this car as the long history was well known to us, now this car is completely finished to a high degree of mechanical expertise along with the beautiful cosmetics and all the lighting is checked, copy of 1965 Mustang brochure (LINK), this has just fantastic ‘eyes’, just finished final professional buffing and ready for Fall 2018, offered below the build costing with all the fresh work completed at Fraser Dante at only $43,950
