1936 Cord Phaeton Convertible is one of the most famous automotive designs of all time, these were very famous designs from both the body presentation and the modern drivetrain that emanated from the famous designer Gordon Buehrig, very few of these factory correct cars are offered on the market as they have very strong collector desirability, this fine example is presented in Rich Maroon, a former First Place AACA National Show Winner (SEE LINK), this gorgeous terrific restoration is in outstanding condition, this is car is a #810…serial number #2598H…original engine #FB1896 with this now having a correct block #FB1484 today, the gorgeous flowing lines of this all steel correct factory metal convertible are dramatic, a non-supercharged engine as now this sports the external Supercharger exhaust pipes that work and adds to the dramatic presentation, with this famous design that stands tall with contrasting 6.50x16 Firestone wide whitewall tires mounted the factory body colored wheels and the full factory chrome wheel covers, the powerplant is the famous 289cid Lycoming 8 cylinder V8 with the factory oversquare crank that produces 125 horsepower, had the also famous electrically selected semi-automatic 4 speed transmission, very advanced  unibody construction with the front wheel drive was an engineering marvel that is current still today, has the hidden headlights that were ahead of its time, forward opening doors, here is a wonderful piece of history with good mechanicals,

Engine/transmission: the strong power came from a 4,739 cc (289 cid)Lycoming V8 of the same 125 horsepower as the L-29, then with had a very advanced semi-automatic four-speed transmission (three plus overdrive) that extended in front of the engine, such forward thinking design now allowed Buehrig to dispense with the driveshaft and transmission tunnel making the floor flat,

History: this features the beloved styling of the Cord 810 that was the work of famous designer Gordon M. Buehrig and his team of stylists which included young Vince Gardner and Alex Tremulis, just amazing sweeping lines with grace and sophistication, also this was the first American front-wheel-drive car with independent front suspension and then it had a tube rear axle with semi-elliptic rear springs, as a result, the new car was so low it required no running boards that were on most cars of the era, the lines of this beauty shows the advanced thinking this specific rare car shows a great history with owner’s going back to 1957, now in Atlanta for many years, the excellent history shows that one of the past owners being Mills B. Lane, the famous CEO of the Atlanta based C&S Bank, the predecessor to the current Bank of America, Mills was a class act, this all steel body has a great luster and presentation, the list of said owners goes to the current family of Mr. Charles Bell, for Spring 2018 this great car is being prepared for the next owner,
