History: a great history is known on this fully equipped and gorgeous Mustang that Fraser Dante sold initially and put through our restoration shop, went to a substantial private collector in Atlanta, he is a most meticulous guy, then the next restoration work with noted upgrades and great attention to running mechanical condition accomplished back for Summer 2011 by Fraser Dante, (SEE LINK), then sold to a Charlotte collector, a serious banker, who then kept adding to the quality of the car, he went to many top shows, then this car was shown at Charlotte at both the Spring and Fall Autofair and also shown at the very important 50th Anniversary of the Mustang at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the garage area, then in Summer 2015, Fraser Dante bought the car again and then did work to ‘bring up’ to even better top standards, then sold it to a very substantial collector in Amelia Island, Florida, the home of the Amelia Island Concours and the finest auctions on the East Coast, he drove it a very limited amount to go to his golf club, now back to Fraser Dante for freshening up and again ready for display and final checking in Atlanta, such quality cars like this are very hard to find, note the top suspension and the brake work completed for great driving, the suspension stance of this 1965 Mustang convertible is terrific with the new shocks just installed and excellent springs, for safe driving, all the driving head lights, the brake lights and turn signals work,
the ‘ 65 and ’66 Mustang convertible are perhaps among the most collectable cars in the USA, William Ford III, the CEO of Ford says in the group of the ads in 2002 that “if I had to own a Ford, a red Mustang convertible would be the one”, see copies of the Ford Mustang literature that do with the car for showing in the future , has thusly really great history for a beautiful car, this red car has very nice sides in the body work and really pretty paint, the luster is terrific and the whole exterior presents very well, very good chrome, front and rear bumpers, insignias all completed, new testing and detailing completed, optional lower rocker moldings for excellent appearance, the 1965 Rally Pac is most desirable,

body and paint: the body steel is really just excellent, the door fit is just terrific, the side ‘lines’ straight, the paint is very, very nice and in really top presentation as just perfect condition for driven show, it is so nice, all the top buffing of the paint was accomplished by a top professional team just completed to make this really have a great luster and the great classic Mustang appearance, has the dual outside chrome mirrors, the correct lower stainless rocker moldings set off the car,
no rust is seen, has the terrific straight pinch welds on the lower rockers with the Ford factory stampings clearly seen, all new metal was used when needed in the restoration with virtually no signs of said accomplished work, some of the lower part of the original rear quarters were worked and nicely done in the initial restoration, they even look nicer than even new as seen from the inside of the trunk and are better than factory, so well accomplished that no seam lines can be seen from inside trunk area,
the lower underchassis floors: now these are very nicely done looking now and look very stock and original, (LINK) they have some new metal as needed on very small areas, normal for footwell work after over 50 years as people put damp feet in the car, with all of this work is clearly shown, they are most solid, there is no undercoating on the underchassis the presentation is so good, all seams addressed, these floors are painted black with no undercoating, very nice detailed inner wheel wells (LINK), the lower rockers are detailed, the interior floors also as seen from the top that are finished in solid metal with the carpet taken out (then replaced) (LINK) showing the floors and nice welding shown to prove how well the restoration was accomplished as needed to achieve excellent standards, then the black paint with a clear coat applied on the floors now completed, then the insulation is laid down before the brand new 80/20 black loop carpet and insulation just installed (see LINK of work),

SEE DATA TAG LINK, attached are the numbers of the data tag showing how this is equipped, we believe that this was a Red car originally, the door tag shows this to be a ‘J’ Rangoon Red with the newer Kevin Marti tag (LINK) all of this condition is shown on the door tag, the VIN # on the driver’s inner fender is very clear in order to show the proper authenticity for investment purposes,

Engine/drivetrain:  this ’65 Mustang convertible has the famous 289cid engine that has been rebuilt from information supplied when Fraser Dante bought the car and as shown with excellent compression that is most even from 155 to 160 lbs in dry cold reading (SEE ENGINE LINK), said reading shows how strong and better than new readings, one can see the fresh heads, this stock C5AE correct dated engine is hard to find today, the intake is also the Ford C5AE that is correct, a newer Holley 4v carburetor is used by Fraser Dante for both performance and economy, carburetor accelerator pump has just been upgraded to accept ethanol fuel June 2017, the hydraulic lifter heads look good and very fresh, they are clearly date stamped (SEE LINK), see the ‘289’ stampings along with the dated numbers of 5F23, June 23, 1965, correct for a 1965 ‘289’, an interesting point, these are obviously 1965 heads with their date stamping of June 1965 (same design as 1966) but stamped ‘1966’, one can see such changes were ongoing in the late June and early July production car, Ford was starting the change over and simply did not plan on selling so many Mustangs, thusly, both codes are not often found, this is the only such dating that has been found,
the engine has fresh new tune completed including the points and timing set, all the correct wiring seems fine, the 7mm plug wires are new Motorcraft, new Autolite #45 spark plugs, new correct battery, new battery cables, has the desired custom installed shut off switch to maintain the battery, now presented are the MCA approved Cobra full kit with the chrome valve covers and chrome air cleaner with the orange HiPo air filter for the K codes and Shelby’s, has the correct exhaust manifolds, sized proper dual aluminized exhaust system, this is correctly done with the ‘H’ pipe under the car, this engine is correct as per the VIN#5F08Cxxxxxx shows this to be a 289cid 2v original car, now uprated to the ‘A ‘code GT standards, very strong and smooth performance, for engine show detailing just completed as photos document the work,

oil/fluids: in the Fraser Dante professional prep, all the fluids are fresh, the radiator is restored and just flushed with fresh coolant to -20o, set up for really great cooling, new cooling hoses and clamps,

racing oil/filter: Special Valvoline high performance VR1 20-50 high zinc oil is added along with new filter for engine protection (LINK), note this step is the top racing quality oil that can only engines without a catalytic converter,

Handling/brakes: ready to be enjoyed for show conditions, note the brake lines are replaced with both steel and rubber as needed, all new brake lines, hoses, all 3 done, brand new expensive front GT Stainless Steel brakes just installed, (SEE LINK), this installation is the best in the market, this expensive upgrade even has the proper 1965 single line GT master cylinder with fresh fluids, (SEE LINK),

New 27/32” large rear brake wheel cylinders just installed with full brake fluid flush, the rear brakes then fully checked and freshly rebuilt as needed, shoes, photos document (LINK), all the brake lines are then flushed and road test to make sure this has great stopping abilities, the shocks are new excellent Monroe units just installed, (SEE LINK) has a brand new Shelby Heavy Duty front sway bar and new bushings, (SEE LINK) under the hood now installed are the very period strut rod reinforcement bars that go from the firewall mounting to each fender, these add to the stability and handling of this convertible Mustang,

this car has the just finished final restoration work to show how nice the underchassis is, (SEE MEN WORKING) then waxed in the final preparation so their excellent condition is verified, features the underchassis with high detailing, black paint just completed of completed floors, (SEE LINK), the front end bushings are just like new, the ball joints are done, tie rod ends are good, the lower control arms are detailed for show in half gray/black, (LINK), full alignment completed, (SEE SPECS) the desirable and expensive 1965 styled steel wheels with center caps have virtually new Goodyear Club P195/75/R14 narrow band whitewalls that look good and drive well, note the rear end has been replaced by a fresh 8” C6 1966 unit, (NUMBERS) see the note that these are the same rear ends in both years, fresh dope, the rear end chunk is detailed with proper Red Oxide, (SEE PHOTO)

Interior: very valuable and expensive 1965 6000 rpm Ralley Pac that has both the clock and the tachometer working, this unit is most desirable, has the factory expensive console that is correct for the air conditioning, all the chrome is very nice, new but most likely just a couple of years old, nice correct side trim, the rear taillight bezels are new, all the emblems are nice, even has the chrome leading edge on the hood, optional day/night rear view mirror, nice black interior with bucket seats and nice side panels, the 1965 black door panels have the stainless inserts, these seats are nicely padded, has FOMOCO belts in front, B5-A JR 1-66, rear seat is also ‘done’, black steering wheel, working stock radio with modern internals, has nice optional newer tinted windshield, new proper black dash pad, black front vertical dash with new bezel and working gauges, new black carpet installed,

the trunk area is nicely done, has the full sized spare, jack and handle, proper plaid mat for the trunk and cover for the spare, drivers side inner wheel cover, trunk plaid mat, proper side cardboard inner panel covers,

new white power top with window installed by Fraser Dante as this is a real driven show car, correct black boot, full size detailed spare, new taillight light rear lenses, the new bezels to look great, items like the new fuel tank with filler system makes this a ‘clean’ fuel system and is new, has a correct black boot for the black interior and white power top, great effort accomplished to make this a very solid Mustang with excellent great looking steel work, just professionally buffed for outstanding paint luster (LINK),

SUMMARY: for sure this Mustang is a proven perfect driven show car in a color combination that is very hard to find today, Fraser Dante went to great efforts to buy this car back as such fine examples are hard to get…The Rally Pac, power steering, GT disc brakes and the Air Conditioning are top options, now this car is completely finished to a high degree of mechanical expertise along with the beautiful cosmetics of a car with just fantastic ‘eyes’, Owner's Manual (LINK), buffed and ready for Summer 2018, offered at only $42,950
