1955 Thunderbird with a striking complete restoration to the highest of top Driven Show standards with exacting factory details, presented in a just spectacular Goldenrod Yellow paint (original color) and great finishing, a very famous design and the most important color of that 1955 landmark year, now shown with an amazing paint and body and the optional fender skirts, this really is a striking look, also this is just like the 1955 Ford factory promotional material, fully rebuilt ‘P’ code dated 292cid engine, factory rated at 198 horsepower, great compression, complete numbers shown later in this report, a highly show detailed engine bay,  factory rare Thunderbird Holley ‘teapot’ model 4000 4v restored carberator, proper air cleaner, full aluminized exhaust system with new mufflers, Ford-O-Matic transmission, complete  mechanicals just checked with all fresh suspension and full braking system,  all new wiring with a 12 volt system upgrade, factory steel wheels painted in the proper Goldenrod color, then 5 Firestone Deluxe Champion wide whitewalls, proper chrome hubcaps, matching spare with wide whitewall, jack assembly, proper factory Goldenrod Yellow matching hardtop, all factory correct colors, the correct yellow with black factory interior has safety belts, all the gauges work including the tachometer and speedometer, even the clock with second hand is working, rare radio delete model, the complete braking system just checked by Fraser Dante for safety, this underchassis is in really superior condition showing the extent of the complete build, this was in a museum in the 2015-2016 period, then purchased and updated at Fraser Dante, many photos confirm along with the full road testing,  a show sign is part of the package, this was driven as the personal show car for Fraser Dante, all the systems and driving are just exceptionally great, a real Landmark Thunderbird that is set for the most demanding of collectors who love to drive their cars, now all work, road testing with personal use and the great final detailing just completed,

history of this car:  here is a first year 1955 Thunderbird of the famous 3 year run, this is restored  to top factory standards wonderful mechanically and gorgeous cosmetically, many photos document the condition with notes that the paint and body present really just wonderful, according to information supplied about the initial restorer, this professional restoration has been featured in ‘Automobile and Quarterly’ magazine, ‘Automobile Collector’ magazine (LINK) and was a only 3 owner restored car, this was found in early 2015 after being displayed in a museum as part of a high end Thunderbird display, this was chosen by said curator for its exceptional and factory correct restoration, then it was taken to a show where Fraser Dante found this outstanding piece, items like the clean look are yielded by not installing the sun visors as this when is driven, of course, without the hardtop as a top down classic ‘personal’ convertible,

kept in the special collection of Fraser Dante because of quality and design, this was initially used on 2016 Memorial Day weekend, it did 51 miles in various conditions to home and then out for the Holiday celebrations with the outside temperature at 87o, then enjoyed and constant upgrading in the Fraser Dante shop, now for Easter, this was taken out that weekend to drive and show at an upscale shopping area and then home to the Fraser’s for Easter, it was in the low 80s with ease of driving, note the photos in front of and the side of our home to display with happiness for our friends, then driven back to the showroom with some 60 miles of stop and go conditions, car performed just perfect, even the second hand on the clock works!
Body/Chassis: this Thunderbird is just beautiful in the original and very popular color of Goldenrod Yellow, this is a frame-off build, the body panels and underchassis have really excellent quality and integrity, in our examination there is only one well-installed and very professionally completed replacement driver’s side lower inner quarter panel skin, all other pieces appear unmolested and as factory, the original floor pans and trunk area pans are extremely solid and impressive, has solid, original inner rocker panels and outer floor pan braces, refinished inner front wheel wells painted body color, very solid, unmolested X-frame refinished in semi-gloss black, all new body mounts and rubber bushings, (SEE LINK), this does not squeak or rattle when driven, in summary, upon Fraser Dante’s examination, we are extremely impressed with the integrity and the originality of this stunning 63 year old Thunderbird,

today the mileage on the odometer shows 7276 that is assumed from start of restoration to present day that has had continued maintenance, such a wonderful history of this car, the final work on full mechanicals with exacting presentation of the suspension is hard to find that makes this a very rare car, brakes just checked (LINK), to have such a solid underchassis with all correct floors and semi-gloss black frame, (LINK), originally out of the mid-west as a true collector car for many years, now in Atlanta for the final upgrading,  

engine/trans:  highly detailed for driven show conditions, this engine bay is presented ‘as factory’, here is the famous ‘Y’ block 292cid engine fitted with the proper Holley 4000 ‘teapot’ carberator, this engine is rebuilt to high standards with strong and very even compression, see the list of the original ‘numbers’ with casting and dates via a (LINK) that are just pulled to show exactly what is on the car today, these confirm said authenticity of this very correct and rare car, all the spark plug wires are new and correct, plugs, distributor timing set, 

this stock engine of 292cid has below specs that are correct to be mated to the Ford-O-Matic Transmission:

Compression Ratio: 8.50:1
Brake Horsepower: 198 @ 4400 rpm
Torque: 286 lbs.-ft. @ 2500 rpm
Carburetor: Holley 4000 four barrel

this has the proper, rare and fully rebuilt 1955 Holley 4000 ‘teapot’ series with correct air filter system, this factory setup works just wonderful,  

engine/head castings:  to show how correct this build is from factory new, see the (LINK) that yields said engine block, intake and both of the heads to show what is exactly here today, the valves are checked, the radiator has been restored, for Summer 2018, the coolant is fresh, the car runs at the normal operating range and when back in the Fraser Dante shop on a 82o day, the block only showed 178o with the digital thermometer, has the new aluminized custom installed dual exhaust system with mufflers is just completed for mellow sound and show, when found this had the correct but only steel exhaust, this is better for driving, maintenance and show conditions,

oil/filter:  when this was found by Fraser Dante, this had ‘normal’ oil, we now use a special oil to protect and lubricate these classic engines,  the final completion is the adding of the special high tech Valvoline 20-50 ZR1 oil with zinc to lubricate, this is very expensive but used by top quality racing operations, (LINK)

electrics:  full complete factory wiring that works just great, note that the proper generator works perfectly and the voltage tested, all of the headlights and the brake lights work, the backup lights work, even the interior lights work when the doors are open, amazing,

driveshaft/rear end: noted in the (LINK) of this report, the actual castings of the rear end and driveshaft are show for authenticity, the gears have fresh lube along with the couplings of the driveshaft,

History of this famous model:  here is a famous 1955 Thunderbird that was the first year of that most famous design, it was built by Ford to compete with the new Corvette roadster with note that said Thunderbird had a very strong new V8 design, roll up windows and a removable hardtop, way more performance and comfort, said styling effort had the Thunderbird way in advance of the Corvette with its crude fiberglass body, see the many books and brochures showing this gorgeous car (LINK), there are many historical facts in the build and importance of this gorgeous and timeless design,  according to the supplied history is that this was featured in ‘Automobile Quarterly’ magazine (LINK) and ‘Automobile Collector’ magazine, also in the personal library of Fraser Dante for 30 years is the copy of ‘Thunderbird…an illustrated history of the Ford T-Bird’ by Ray Miller (LINKS), also shown is a copy of ‘Collectible Automobile’ magazine showing this color and history, this is presented as a former frame on show build but appears with great body bushings,
