History shows this ’67 Healey 3000 is very original with rare documents to confirm that this is an Atlanta car for many years (SEE TITLE HISTORY), lots of receipts in the file from previous work, very little miles in the last 27 years according to the lat owner who believes that less than 5000 miles was done, hard to find such a solid Austin Healey that has a frame on restoration, one MUST look at the impressive NUMBER SHEETS (SEE LINK FOR #s) that are posted showing how correct this 1967 Healey is, an important fact, while in our showroom in August 2010, a customer leaned over with hand on the windshield and started a crack, this had the ORIGINAL Tri Plex windshield with numbers attached (LINK), recently a crack appeared in this windscreen, then Moss Motors supplied their best, expensive brand new reproduction TriPlex glass along with all the new rubber insulation kit and full seals, this installation took a lot of effort to dissemble the whole assembly, then the chrome pieces cleaned, screws to hold in uprated, then the professional installers did the final installation (SEE PHOTOS), this work is most extensive and expensive to accomplish with proper fitting in a first class show and weather proof manner, over $1000 in labor and parts to accomplish, the windshield looks fantastic; at this same time, the original window door rubber seals were replaced, all of this knowledge of his and recent work adds to the credibility of this lovely 1967 Austin Healey 3000,
The original engine is correct with numbers from car’s history (SEE LINK FOR #s), engine number shows to be a late ’66 casting, this 6 cylinder 2912cc or 177.7cid inches has a long stroke for very strong compression, the block is numbered 12 B 766, the cylinder head is AEC 960, such documented work that has produced the information showing rebuild recently with dry cold readings from 146 to 155 lbs (SEE LINK), engine number 29K-RU-H/13737, this figure shows the positive condition of the internals, this set up has the original dual SU type HD8 2” sidedraft carburetors, these carburetors have just been set with the guide books from British Leyland by a top specialist, then road test in Summer heat to make sure this performs correctly, this final engine is the series is rated at 150 horsepower, solid 167 lbs of torque, recent work includes many parts from Moss Motors, some of which includes Lucas spark plug numbered wires, distributor cap, the ignition rotor button, NGK spark plugs, proper Lucas coil and bracket decal, new fan belt, the full installation just completed on the radiator cooling system (SEE LINK), this work included pulling the rebuilt radiator, then the side cooling side plates were installed, the top radiator shroud is painted factory color and added to the top of the radiator to complete the air flow, then full engine detailing with all correct colors, the road test is done for performance in the final preparation,
Transmission: the overdrive, aluminum cased transmission shows the original casting numbers, the overdrive unit is filled with 70-90 lb gear oil, this work is receipted with lots of expert time to make sure this drives exceptionally for open top driving enjoyment, Cooling is checked with the radiator is taken out and sent to a top shop to be fully checked, fresh upper and lower hoses, radiator new bolts, then fresh coolant added, all the hoses are in fine shape, (SEE LINK TO TRANS #s)
UNDERCHASSIS, here the condition is very original, not molested and detailed when the work was accomplished for Summer 2010, the strong mechanicals were continued with service here in Atlanta by Fraser Dante for end Summer 2010, note the preparation of the underchassis has seen lots of time spent stripping the minor road grime and grease that had accumulated on the underchassis and frame through the years, lots of the original BRG paint was on the chassis when the cleaning is accomplished, photos show the hand work to clean all of this excellent area, (SEE LINK), the normal Austin Healey slight oil blow by acted as an excellent protector to preserve in very solid condition, after this extensive cleaning and lubrication was completed with the over 120 hours alone spent in detailing this lovely chassis, then the chassis and frame is touched up and then painted in proper colors to protect again for the future and use for show presentation, note the solid cross member of the frame behind the transmission is shown when the clutch work was just checked,
The interior features a black bucket seated interior is in excellent condition, it is believed the front seats are redone and the rear jump seats are thought to be original, it is hard to find like this, the valuable factory braiding is on the seat sides, has safety belts, the proper tachometer and all gauges are working, the wood dash is in excellent condition, the chrome bezels around the gauges look terrific, has a stock and original factory working radio, nice black carpet is prepared in extremely nice condition, has new windshield post rubbers, proper door jamb rubbers, striker plates set correctly,
the exterior paint has a terrific luster, final professional detailing with first class materials used, the fender stainless piping is nicely down, has ‘great eyes’, no rust can been found, sides straight as a arrow, the has very nice chrome bumpers that have both and rear bumper guards, the Black top is in very nice condition, good black boot, full proper spare, correct trunk mat, the 72 spoke wire wheels are original type and in the factory gray color that have just been cleared in semi-gloss to protect, (SEE LINK TO WHEELS), these wheels are 5 ½ x 15”, two have the 2A168 and 502 numbers, Dunlop SP40s in the P195/65R/15 size with a 90% tread left, the Alignment is completed specs as part of the file, the spare is also detailed and has an R165/80R/15 mounted, has the jack assembly and correct trunk floor mats, the chrome bumpers are very nice and in driven show condition with the bumper guards, windows work well, all seals, even the wipers work,
Suspension has fresh front discs that have numbered parts that show to be correct and were done relatively recently with over 90% pad life, the rear drums were turned and the rear brake cylinders and shoes new for Summer 2010, system bled, road tested, car is level, coils on front and rear leafs, new sway bar bushings, detailed and end links,(SEE LINK TO BRAKES & SUSPENSION), alignment just checked, (SEE LINK),
